As a result of the Localism Act communities have a lot more say in how they want their neighbourhoods to be e.g. they can now draw up their own neighbourhood plan.
Locality has released its 'Neighbourhood Plan Roadmap Guide' - a step by step guide that takes communities through the neighbourhood planning process, with guidance on good practice and worksheets for carrying out each part of the plan. The concept of Neighbourhood Plans is part of the Localism Act.
There is also a Community Knowledge Hub where you can network with other people and share your knowledge.
