Volunteers need support, and an opportunity to both give and receive feedback. This course will help volunteer-involving organisations offer a supportive environment, get the most from their volunteers, and help avoid problems arising with them. It is suitable for anyone with responsibility for involving and supporting volunteers.
Topics covered include:

  • Induction and training
  • Volunteer motivations and development
  • Support for individual volunteers
  • Giving volunteers a collective voice
  • Dealing with problems

Learning outcomes, participants will:

  • Understand the unique nature of volunteering and what this means for volunteer involvement
  • Be able to draft development plans for volunteers
  • Appreciate the importance of space for individual and collective feedback
  • Develop confidence when dealing with problems
