Celebrating Windrush 70th and NHS 70th Anniversary

Saturday 10 November 2018
18:00 to 21:30

You are invited to join SR Expressions for a joyous trip down memory lane as they celebrate two iconic events which were pioneered in 1948 - the creation of the National Health Service (NHS), and the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush, bringing West Indians to help re-build post-war Britain and roll out the newly-launched Welfare State. Windrush pioneers deserve respect and recognition, for working in the hospitals, transport services, housing, construction, administration services - as well as in showbiz during the post-war years, and beyond.
The event brings together elders and pioneers from the Windrush Generation, as well as pioneer doctors,
nurses and other health workers who have made such a vital contribution to all our lives through their professional and dedicated work in the NHS.
Dress to impress or wear fancy dress in Windrush style or NHS health service style = optional. Prizes for the best male and female outfits!
A celebration of history, heritage & health! All ages welcome, but booking is essential.
