20 minutes of your time to make all the difference……..

Hopefully you’re well aware that the first ever voluntary sector strategy for Croydon has already helped stimulate debate with the borough’s Leaders. However, we want to make it even more powerful and to do this we need your help to get the data which sits behind it as full, accurate and up to date as possible.  We’ve created a form on CVA’s website to capture this data. Read more

CVSA representation on the new Stronger Communities Partnership
Dear CVSA member
CVSA representation on the new Stronger Communities Partnership
You’ll know that the Council is setting up a new Stronger Communities Partnership to oversee the development of Croydon’s communities agenda. Its broad remit is to establish active and engaged communities in Croydon, with providing an environment for a thriving voluntary, community and faith sector  as a priority. Croydon’s voluntary and community sector has been allocated six places, through the Croydon Voluntary Sector Alliance (CVSA), with another three places assigned to the faith sector.
If you are interested in acting as a CVSA representative on the new partnership (initially in an interim capacity) please reply to by no later than FRIDAY 26 SEPTEMBER. The Council is planning a date for the first Partnership meeting in early October – hence the urgency.
After 26.9 I’ll aim to confirm allocation of the six places asap, setting out to achieve a cross-section of voluntary/community groups in the borough by using the following three categories:
·         Large Groups – annual income above £500,000
·         Small and Medium Groups – annual income between £10,000 and £500,000
·         Grassroots Groups – annual income below £10,000
Do please contact me for a discussion if helpful – you can reach me on either 02082531260 or 07709233112
Best wishes – Steve

ABCD stands for Asset Based Community Development and Paul Macey (ABCD Project Worker) and Steve Phaure (CEO, CVA) brought this alive with practical examples. New community-led activities are springing up, CVA’s reputation with the local council and health sector is enhanced, and its success provides CVA with the means to secure additional resources. To date, 149 local people have been recruited to speak with others in their community, to find out what interests them, and to make connections and help them set up new activities.
Over 150 new community-led projects have been initiated. Some of these go onto secure funding, others are able to operate completely with the time and resources donated by local people and organisations.
